Last weekend I decorated my downstairs shower room. It used to be a dark blue matt finish and was a) dingy and b) covered in finger marks. Being a matt finish, it was impossible to clean the walls and they were hopelessly impractical. It is now a rather appropriately named cream silk called "Nude Glow"which I found in my well-stocked garage.

"What has this got to do with bunting?" I hear you ask. Well, as part of the redecorating process, I took down the rather unattractive (and utterly pointless) bright yellow roller blind. As the window is small, frosted and completely not overlooked, I decided not to put it back up. However, windows do look rather sad with no dressing so I decided to make some bunting to string across the top. The small ends-of-balls from my ripple blanket were perfect for this and I now have a string of 7 little "bunts" hanging across the top of the frame.
For those who are interested in this kind of thing, I used this pattern. I chose this from the many available on Ravelry because it had the long thin triangular shape I was after. I then just chained/single crocheted across the top of my triangles to form the band - I don't actually know what the pattern says to do for this part but, if I recall correctly, I chained 10, joined it into a ring with a slip stitch and then single crocheted across the top of a triangle. As I wanted a dense sort of bunting, I chained 3 between one triangle and the next. To finish I chained 10 and joined it with a slip stitch to make a ring. Then I hung it between two small nails.
I am rather pleased with it and am already on the look out for more bunting opportunities. However, first I need to make some daffodils...
'more bunting opportunities' I currently have two bathrooms & a downstairs loo that all have bare windows :-)
ReplyDeleteYes... our family bathroom is looking bare and unloved. As is the futility room. :-D
