Shopping Heaven

One of my favourite places for a mooch is the Missionary Mart in Wallington. It is a warren of warehouses filled with the abandoned memories of hundreds of lives. And bargains!

Yesterday, I went in search of a cupboard for my Futility Room. Whilst I saw a cupboard there, I actually came home with a music stand for Small Dragon#1 to use for flute practice, a cushion cover that matches the one that an anonymous SmallDragon drew on with CD marker pen, some small wooden pattern tiles and a large number of odds and ends of yarn. All for the bargain price of £3.

I went back there today. This time I came home with the kitchen cupboard I didn't buy yesterday, a "new" scooter for BabyDragon, a footstool I just liked the look of and an old wooden ladder.

My mother subsequently claimed the footstool and the ladder is destined to hold towels in the family bathroom. I'm currently sanding it down and cleaning it up and it looks fantastic.

This time my haul cost me a whopping £30 but when you consider the price of towel ladders new in the shop that's really quite a bargain. This one will make a ladder for the family bathroom and the back section should fit wonderfully in my ensuite. Two ladders for less than the price of one!

And, as an added bonus, provided I fix it to the wall properly, it won't matter if a SmallDragon decides to climb it (and they will). Unlike a poncey shop-bought towel ladder.
